Mission Statement
“To help you choose the right equipment at the right price while delivering consistently outstanding customer service”
Price Match
At Cley Spy, we have a large, well-stocked shop and a great team of staff who really know what they’re talking about. For us, the pin that holds it all together is our commitment to giving you fantastic customer service.
We think great service starts with great prices, so we continually check the competition to ensure we’re always offering you the best price on binoculars, telescopes, monoculars, and all optical accessories.
If you do come across a genuine retailer elsewhere in the UK offering a cheaper price, just let us know and we will do our very best to match it.
This is our ‘Cley Spy Price Matching’ policy. It’s there to give you confidence when shopping online and in-store, so you know you’re getting the best price available, wherever you are.
Our Service
New equipment gives you a fresh perspective of the world, so buying binoculars and telescopes can be extremely exciting, if not a little daunting.
At Cley Spy, we know giving you the best price on optics is only the first step towards choosing the right equipment. The next step is deciding which products are right for you.
Each member of the Cley Spy team has years of experience in the field of optics and is on-hand to answer all your questions. They will give you all the tools you need so you can decide exactly which product is best for you.
None of us work on a commission basis, so our advice is purely impartial and strictly there to help you get exactly what you want (even if you don’t know what that is yet).
If you prefer to shop online, our buying guides will take you through the process of choosing equipment, from establishing what specifications you’ll need for your binocular, telescope or monocular, to choosing tripods, speciality rucksacks and clothing.
The wealth of information on our website will help you with everything you need, whether you’re a beginner or an expert. And just remember, when you’re shopping online we’re always at the end of the phone. You can even tweet us or catch us on Facebook if you have any questions while you’re shopping.
Part-Exchange / Commission Sales
Do you have a binocular, telescope or tripod that you no longer have a home for? Then Cley Spy can help!
We try to offer the fairest part-exchange price, which is entirely based on what we think we can honestly re-sell your item for – not on how expensive the item that you are purchasing is.
We also offer a commission sale scheme, where we decide between us what we think your item might sell for, then advertise it across our social media platforms and website and then cover the shipping costs to the new owner. We take a 25% commission for this service.
We are legally required to give the new owner 14 days, before then sending the details of your sale to our office staff for processing, so please allow up to 28 days from the sale date for the payment of funds.
NB. We are unable to accept thermal imagers, range-finders, cameras or image-stabilising binoculars for part-exchange or commission-sale.
But our service doesnt end there. When you’ve bought your item and taken it home (or had it delivered) we’re still there to help you with anything you need. There’s no time-limit on our service.
Our Surroundings
Both Cley Spy shops are set amongst beautiful wild areas in the North Norfolk countryside.
The Cley Spy Marshes shop is inside a Norfolk Wildlife Trust (NWT) building.
It overlooks the NWT’s best-known nature reserve and bird breeding sanctuary: The Cley Marshes.
The shop sits on the coast road between Salthouse and Cley. You can click here for directions and local transport information, or just type ‘Cley Marshes Visitor Centre’ into your sat nav.
The Cley Marshes is known for being one of the UK’s best birdwatching sites and there is always something to see, no matter the season.
The bracken lagoons and reedbeds are a hotspot for both migrating and residential birds. These natural features are regulated by the NWT to ensure they remain in an ideal condition for all species.
There are plenty of hides for you to test your new binoculars or telescopes and a boardwalk helps you pick your way through the marshy terrain.
Our flagship store is at Manor Farm Barns in Glandford near Holt. It’s set on bird-rich farmland with fantastic rural views of pine forests and open fields. We even have our very own wild meadow filled with a wealth of wild flowers and plants, as well as frequently visiting birds and wildlife. It is a great place to test your equipment in ‘real world’ conditions. Our beautiful surroundings mean you can take a relaxed approach to buying optics by trying different models to find out which one is right for you.
